A Hair Necessity! with Virginia

Tomorrow is our big day - it's Back to School day for my girls. It is quite a milestone as my oldest is moving to the middle school and my youngest is going to grade 1 *sniff* *sniff* We have had fun making banners, party straws and now party headbands to celebrate the day.

Here is my youngest with her "tiara" headband.

And here is my oldest with her more "tween" headband!

Supplies:  Pattern papers used were Lulliloo and Blackout. These papers work perfectly together. Buttons and ribbon were from my stash - not sure of their source.

Thanks for letting me share!

Christmas cards

The season of Japan when I live now is autumn on a calendar. However, a day hot till September in Japan continues. Although mind may be very early, I prepared the Christmas cards.

Supplies:
Secret Keeper Windows
Holly - Oh So Merry Collection
Snowflake - Oh So Merry Collection

I also used the stamp for Christmas, ink, jewels, glitter adhesives, and a ribbon.

I have noticed the affinity of a stamp and glitter adhesives being very good with this card.

I put jewel on snowflake at the point.

Since I am not panicked before Christmas, I am going to prepare a little early.

Thanks,
Akiko

Happy Everything!

Hi Scrapfriends! Marci here....I'm so excited to join the Urban Swank Design Team and to get to work with the fabulous Urban Lily products. I don't know about you, but I found it VERY difficult to find Urban Lily products at my local Scrapbook Stores. The papers may be older, but never having had a chance to use them before, they're new to me!

I love the bright colors, and strong graphic elements of the pages. Urban Lily papers are perfect for those of us that like to cut, cut, cut!

On a recent trip to Six Flags, I took this photo of my girls and their friends. I was so delighted to find an Urban Lily paper collection that suited it PERFECTLY. The bright, vibrant colors in the photo are exactly matched by the colors in the paper....and the title is what I would have added myself! I cut and mixed a few papers from the "Happy Everything" collection for added pops of color, and added a rub on. It was so simple.

I used the "Friends" paper:

the "Happy" paper:

and the "Always" paper:

and these fun rubons from the "Celebration" Collection

Thanks for stopping by. See ya next time! ;)

It's a pre-Party with Virginia!

At my house, I am counting down the days before the start of school! We've heard the song, "It's the most wonderful time of the year!" I love the wit of the song and it makes me laugh every time I hear it! To make back to school fun for the kids this year, I decided to make a fun banner and some straw decorations for a marshmallow fiesta! As an added challenge, I wanted to only use scraps of Urban Lily paper!

Here are my projects! First up is the banner. The picture shows only 3 rosettes but the banner goes all around the girls' homework/craft/everything table. The flower rosetes were made with strips of Urban Lily paper and accented with the Urban Lily chipboard circles.

A front view - this banner repeats around the table - this photo only shows one side of the banner.

Here is a close-up of the rosette.

Here is a side view of the rosettes.

Now for my second project, the straw decorations! My girls love marshmallows. To them, it is the ultimate treat. As a treat on the first day of school we have "Marshmallow Drinks" - this year, they will be just a wee bit more fun!

Here is my youngest demonstrating the Marshmallow sundae.

Here is my daughter succumbing to the temptation!

And here she is enjoying the moment to the fullest!

I think the Urban Lily papers have made our pre-Party a fantastic Party; don't you???

Welcome Marci Knecht!

I have had the pleasure of meeting Marci and I am so excited to let you all know that Marci is another addition to the Swanky Girls! This girl is amazingly talented! Plus, she is so sweet!

I grew up in Ontario Canada and moved to the United States after the birth of my first daughter. Being new to the area, my husband suggested that I should “find a hobby’….little did he know the monster he would be creating! Five years later, I’m in avid paper crafter, card maker, alterer, scrapbooker and all-around ‘creative chick’. When I’m not reading or baking, you can find me in my scrap room creating. My work has been seen in Memory Makers, Cards, Scrapbooking and Beyond, CardMaker and Stamping, Stationary & Scrapbooking. I have 2 beautiful daughters who are the center of my universe, and an amazing husband who rocks my world.

at the park

Hello Urban Swank fans! I am Akiko and introduce two 12-inch layouts today. We the families love playing in a park. They are a neighboring park along which we can walk, and a park which must go out by car specially. I cannot stop that a husband and a daughter photograph the figure which is lying idle together there. Therefore, I have to make much layout using the photograph in which the family is playing in the park. And these are the layouts using the photograph in which we are playing in the park.

Quirky Cool !

Hello everyone ! I'm Aida, returning with a layout of my daughter.

We have an eighteen year old and these days feel lucky to have a daughter who loves her life ! She's in a college that's a perfect fit for her interests in music and audio technology, is an awesome Bass Guitarist and working hard towards her dream of being a producer in the music industry. It wasn't always smooth sailing when she was much younger as she was a quirky child who was not typically *girly* , she was not into Barbie Dolls, dressing up, ballet and other girly best friends.

At eighteen, Stasha's quirks have become part of her personality and is now a cool young woman with her own true sense of direction and style !

Hiya Everyone

Well as you see by the post below, there is a new sheriff in town!!!

Hi Everyone I'm Erika, and I'm over the flippin MOON to be a part of the Urban Swank design team. When I talked with Becky, I knew I'd love it here and I so hope to give you all inspiration and a laugh or two along the way.

Today I've got a project to share with you that uses the Happy Everything and Mayella Collections from Urban Lily. If you love fussy cutting even half as much as I do, you NEED to grab some of these papers. (just stop here to add some to your cart).

I'm a scissor lover, it is true. Anything that can create more movement on a project, gets cut and glued using the Liquid Scrap Dots from Helmar. So without further adieu, here is my very first Urban Swank. I hope you love it.

I added a bit of stickles to the Answer It chipboard piece to give it a little punch and then went crazy with the stickles around the edges. I'll tell ya, I'm a magpie; If it is Shiny it is MINEY!!!!

Well, that is all for today. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving me some Urban Swank Love. Come on now, make this girl feel at home!!!!

Toodles
Erika

Welcome Erika!

Erika is our newest Swanky Gurl! Not only is she very talented and crafty, but she is an absolute sweetheart and she is so ridiculously funny, it's not even funny ;)

Hi Everyone, I'm Erika Taylor and I'm super excited to be working with Urban Swank. I've got a smokin husband named Mark, who is my biggest supporter and fan and we have two zany and wild children aged 3 and 6. We reside in small town Southern Saskatchewan.

I've been paper crafting since September of 2008, but you could always find me with scissors, glue, crayons and construction paper when I was a little girl. I've got a crazy personality and love to make people giggle, either with me or at me.

Creatively, I love trying new things and revel in new techniques, tools and supplies. I am very eclectic in my style and sometimes look from one project to the next and think "Did I make both of those? or was I abducted by aliens and didn't even know it?" I guess I'll never know the answer to that one. The Aliens are pretty good at covering their tracks lol.

Stop over to my blog and take a look. Grab a cup of your favorite beverage and leave some love. You can find my blog at http://taylordconcepts.blogspot.com

Happy Monday!

I just got back from a 9 day vacation - tent camping at the lake I've gone to all but a handful of summers since I was 5 years old! It was hot, it was humid; but the water was fine! I just wish the fishing would have been a little bit better. As soon as I got home, I ran to my scrapping room and played with my scrapping goodies. Oh, how I missed my scrapping!

I created two projects for you!
This page uses Happy Everyday Always, Happy Everyday Friends, Sugary Collection Honey, and the fantastic Helmar Adhesives. I added some fabric, ink, mist, white cardstock, lace, and chipboard letters. The photos were taken after a big storm where I live. I was the first one out in the storm after it stopped. We don't often get big storms so the journaling is about how the local newspaper used something like 27 of my pictures on their website. It was very exciting!

I also have a little friend (she's 6) who has cystic fibrosis and has had to spend some time in the hospital. I just found out when I got back from my vacation so I created this card for her. I need to get it off into the mail soon. I hope it really cheers her day! The card also uses the Happy Everday Always paper and it uses Sugar High from the Mooch Collection. It is backed with cardstock and uses Helmar Adhesives.

That's it for me today. I hope you all enjoy the last few days before school starts back up. Happy Monday and Happy Summer!
Rachel
