What Makes Me Laugh???

Urban Lily products make me laugh uncontrollably with happiness! How about you??? When I asked my youngest daughter what makes her laugh, she said, "Oh Mommy, slides of course!" and guess what? I found the perfect pictures to match her answer! Here is my layout...

Here is a close-up of chipboard circle. I love the vivid colours and phrases on the circles. They are meant to shine and take centre stage...at least that is how I feel! :-)

Now let's talk minis for a minute...I absolutely adore these mini album sheets from Urban Lily. Gosh, they are beautiful and can be completed lickety split. Mine is depicted below and each of my daughters will be writing a special note for each other on the pages.

Layering Urban Lily

Hello scrappers, I am Aida. How has your week been so far ?

Today the buzz words in scrapbooking are *texturing and layering*. Whenever you walk down scrapbook aisles you will see many embellishments in felt, softies or chipboards that it's become almost impossible to choose. So where does that leave Urban Lily ? This brand's strongest pluses are clean, popping gaphics of the paper designs, it's what we love. Keeping this in mind, I would like to show you how to pair Urban Lily with craft products like glitter cardstock and thin foam sheets to give textured layers to your projects.

For this mini-book project I used the chipboard Secret Keepers with the beautiful butterfly and flower shape. The chipboard pages were trimmed to create a layered mini book with pages in odd sizes to make it interesting. Next I traced the butterfly and flower onto glitter cardstock and cut the shapes out.



The butterfly and flower were matted to give it that extra definition as you can see below. Urban Cut words were used for the title of the album and I do LOVE my buttons !!!



Throughout the book I used hand trimmed bracket shapes of different sizes for accents.

In this layout, the pale blue of the flowers were accented with thin black foam. The Photo Card swirls were partially cut out and the photo inserted.

"What You May Not Know?"

Hello Everyone! It's Virginia here - I am so excited to share my project with you today! So in answer to my question, "What you may not know???" is how easy it is to make quick and easy and beautiful projects with Urban Lily products. I would like to share two of my projects with you.

Here is an adorable mini album I made in 30 minutes or less. It took me longer to wait for the glue to dry than to put the album together! hee hee

Wanna learn how to make this little gem?

Using Mini Book Bright, I cut out each of the 5 pages and the cover. The pages were scored and adhered back to back. (See image below.)

Before attaching the cover, this is what the scored cover looks like. I cut a slit in the 1st and 4th panel so that I could thread ribbon through to tie the book closed. (The image is turned backwards to clearly show the ribbon threading.)

To secure the pages in the cover, I cut a piece of paper, approximately 2.5"x1" and scored at 3/8" and 5/8" to create a "valley" 0.25" wide.

This "book binding" was glued to the pages with the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

Once the glue is thoroughly dry, glue the book contents to the book cover.

Voila! You have a gorgeous mini album in minutes! Below are the pages from the mini album. I promised my girls that they can write their names in the album.

I love Urban Lily products ALOT!!!! Here is a layout I did of my youngest daughter using Polo (from the Blink Collection) and Ink (also from the Blink Collection). I added gems from Glitz Design and a whole lotta pop dots! LOL The title was created using the letters from the Alphabet paper plus a few letters from Making Memories tiny alphas.

Urban Swank Favorite Seven Girls

My first project for Urban Swank is a wall hanging for my mom. For this project" She Loves her 7 girls" I glued Urban Lily paper... from entitled Sushi the every day collection. The paper is glued on to a 12 x 12 canvas board and then I lightly distressed the paper with watered down white gesso.

To accent this beautiful collection I add some of the flowers from the Sushi Dot and Linen collection with the blues to the page. I tried to tie in the blues from the chipboard and paper flowers by adding some paints to the canvas.

To create texture and visual dimention on the paper I placed dry wall tape over the canvas and spritzed Shimmerz paints over the page. The colors of paint filtered thru the tape to create the mesh effect on the paper. Once this was completed I added some of the new collection of Shimmerz Pearls paints in Ballet Slipper and Grey Flannel. I accented the white flowers with blue mist and accented the center of the flower by adding Shimmerz Pearls in Grey Flannel. This allowed me to coordinate the Number It chipboard is from the Urban Lily collection as well. You can purchase the Urban Lily collections here.

Untitled Small Clip board

My Mom has 11 grandchildren and she is putting together her new craft room. I am creating small projects using photos of her grandchildren and this is one of the projects that I created using the Urban Lily collections of papers.

For this small project I cut out some of the elements from the Urban Lily Lulliloo collection. I used Lalo and Lu Lu for this page. I cut a square piece of the dot paper and layered it over the clip board. I then cut out the La lo paper detail and mounted it on cardboard to add dimension. The paint around the edge of the board is Shimmerz Pearls in Ballet Slipper and Grey Flannel. The flower is painted with creamy Shimmerz pearlz in Morning Mist paint.

Here's Polinka again, with another couple of layouts that I hope will inspire you...

I first cut the paper at my preferred size: 8x8'
Then I added 2 pictures (B&W and color) and stitched them with color thread and my sewing machine.
I wanted to focus on the graphic paper, so I also stitched along the borders of the circles and created some more rectangles on a corner.

The title has been cut from an alphabet sheet (Urban Cut Collection)

and inked with a simple pink ink pad...
I also inked the distressed borders and stamped a sentiment to finish the layout...

EmmaHere I used one single patterned paper that I cut 8x8'. I cut the leftovers again, in order to add some pattern and decoration to the picture and background.

The remaining circles have been distressed for more dimension and the flowers are surrounding the picture for a girlie look.

I wanted a simple title with chipboards and a stitched the picture and the edges of the layout to finish.

Mooch and Blink !!

Hello scrappers !! It's Aida here and today is my turn on the blog. I hope you are enjoying the previous posts of fabulous work with Urban Lily and your mojo quotient is reving into top gear !

One of the difficulties some scrappers may encounter is gender *block*. I have two girls and rarely scrap using *boy* colors and sometimes I find myself stuck in always using girlie styles or colors all the time. Working on the Mooch and Blink Collection in blues and teals was a real switch for me and so ...... much .......fun !!!

In this layout, paper from the Mooch Collection was perfect for a layout of a brother, sister and friend. The Black and White ATC card in the top right corner balanced the night time background of the photo and I used the title Enjoy from the Urban Lily Cut Out. Needing more flourishes, I decided to hand-draw them on leftover blue pattern paper, cut them out and glued the flouishes to the top corner of the layout


This piece of MDF is 12" X 4" and I thought it would make a great altered piece. First I glued the dotted paper from the Blink Collection, then cut out the graceful black blooms and added them to the left of the project. The photo is an adorable boy named Reezwan and I finished the project with touches of glitter to make the piece feel kid-like.

Clearly Unique Calender Project...

Hi everyone I hope you are having a great Monday. For me it has been a manic Monday. I am working on deadlines for CHA. I created this calender using a scallop 12x12 Build a book page. The calendar paper starts out white. I used Distress inks to color the background. I actually painted in the colors on the flowers. The base for the calender numbers are bottle caps. They allow me to add magnets to the numbers and embellishments so they can be moved other spaces. Each one of the months will be designed using different coordinating papers. Prima flowers and trims adorn this funky yet playful calender. I have been scrapping like crazy and if you would like to see some of my other projects. A simple gift card holder...

Hi everyone! It's me, Sarah.

This month seems to be flying right along, wouldn't you say?! Have you all been keeping up with your scrapping resolutions or goals?! I've been trying to keep up with mine by creating some projects with some Urban Swank yummies.

Here's a giftcard holder I created:



I took a blank Secret Keeper Card and covered it with some patterned paper. Here, I used these patterned papers:





Then, I took a craft knife, and cut it right down the middle to allow it to open and close. There's a groove right down the middle, so if you cut down it, you should be able to cut a straight line. When you pull apart the the Secret Keeper Card, there's enough space to slip in a gift card. If you want, you can also add a message inside.



I embellished the front of the card by cutting out a flower and adding tulle and stickers. Voila! A fairly simple, but cute Thank You Card with a giftcard inside!
